A Big Truth, Or A Bigger Lie! by WJ Vincent II

A Big Truth, Or A Bigger Lie!
The world that we are all living in has been changing rapidly, and not necessarily in the right direction.  When I was growing up, humility, honesty, and hard work were standard and foundational.  People were judged harshly for being lazy, for being dishonest, and for bragging about their accomplishments.  If your parents didn’t let you know these things, your community, teachers, co-workers, and more would certainly remind you if you got out of line.  Somewhere along the line though, this message started to become distorted.  The legal system started rewarding people for suing for ridiculous things.  People who had become financially successful started becoming more and more vilified instead of admired.  The entire social system was flipped upside down, and we are only at the very beginning of where this kind of backwards thinking will lead us.  So let’s take a look at the big truth and the bigger lie.

The Big Truth
Most people know that it takes a great deal of hard work and sacrifice to get ahead.  Volumes and volumes of success books have been written explaining how you can overcome anything.  These books, gurus, and historical examples show over and over again that no matter how difficult the setback, how terrible the disaster in your life, you really and truly can do and be anything regardless.  The truth is if we are willing to look in the mirror, take responsibility for our status in life, we can begin changing it.

A Bigger Lie!
Remember we discussed earlier that society had completely flipped?  Somewhere the societal pressure switched from being all about hard work, humility, and honesty, and became the exact opposite.  People now are encouraged to get away with whatever they can.  Society now talks about victims, and blaming everyone else instead of taking personal responsibility.  And this is a big lie, because the reality is so much different.  The moment any of us starts to blame others for our status, situation, or challenges in life, we have given up any control we might have had on the outcome.

We are now putting ourselves into a situation from which we can never escape.  Instead of having limitless opportunity to be, do, and have more in life, we can only just sit there and make up excuses about how the system or our circumstances are insurmountable rather than focusing on overcoming them.  The fundamental difference this makes in a person’s life is almost impossible to calculate, because the damage itself becomes limitless.  Instead of a tragedy, difficulty, or terrible thing that happened to us being a single event, something that only effected us negatively once, that inspires us to grow & improve forever,  it becomes the sole reason for everything negative in our life.  It is never our fault, it is always someone else’s fault.  The big lie here is that playing the victim card actually makes our lives better, because the reality is it makes everything worse.  A victimhood mindset might grant a momentary feeling of power and moral superiority but it does not improve any lives in the long run.

Be careful that you focus on the Big Truth in your life, rather than bigger lies, because the difference in where your life can and will go is astronomical.  We want to see everyone have a chance to live a TriplePLife, and that starts with personal accountability, not in blame shifting.  Here’s to all of us in 2022 continuing to work on  getting better in all aspects of our lives, regardless of whatever obstacles, challenges, or setbacks we face in our daily life!
